iOS: Encrypting and Decrypting Messages Through the XQ iOS App

edited July 21 in How to use

Composing a Message

Step 1: Click “start a message” to send your first message. Future messages can be sent by clicking a pencil at the bottom right hand corner.

Step 2: Enter the email address or cell phone number of the intended recipient. You also have the option of importing your contacts. XQ will never store that information.

Step 3: Enter your message and click the arrow.

Step 4: You will be asked to choose how you wish to send the message (e.g. Messages App, Mail App, Gmail, etc.). We recommend that you use Gmail as it currently has the best compatibility with the XQ app. The message will appear as a pasted link in an email. It can now be sent to the recipient.

Opening and Decrypting Messages

There are two options for opening encrypted XQ messages on an iPhone.

Option 1: If the recipient does not have the XQ app, they can click the link in the message and decrypt it via the XQ website.

Option 2: If the recipient does have the XQ app, they can decrypt the message there.

Step 1: Click the mailbox icon at the bottom left corner of the XQ app.

Step 2: Copy and paste the text into the field. Click the lock above keyboard.

Step 3: The message is now decrypted.
