Step 2: Click on the XQ icon in the Outlook menu bar and select Encryption Settings from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Use the configuration menu to add an encryption password to your encrypted messages.

Step 4: Additionally you can set the email expiration date or choose a default expiration date option.

Step 5: Optionally, change the encryption algorithm and/or notification settings.

Step 6: Save your encryption settings. Your encryption configurations will be used when sending an encrypted message.

Refer to the following steps to revoke access to an encrypted email in Outlook:

Step 1: Open Outlook and navigate to your Sent Mail folder. Click on the email you would like to revoke access to.

Step 2: On the email message, click on the XQ icon in the menu bar and select the Read with XQ option from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Click on the Revoke Message icon and select Revoke on the pop-up window.

Decrypting the Content of an XQ Email

You can either decrypt an email via the Outlook menu bar or directly from the email message in your inbox.

To view the encrypted message directly in the email, click on the "You've been sent an XQ encrypted message" link in the email window. The decrypted message will then be displayed below the link.

To view the encrypted message from the Outlook menu bar, refer to the following steps:

Step 1: Open the email you would like to decrypt.

Step 2: Click the XQ Secure Outlook button from the Outlook menu bar and select Read with XQ from the drop-down menu. This opens a window that automatically decrypts the contents of the email.

Decrypting Attached Files Within an XQ Email

Step 1: If the email contains an encrypted attachment, download the file to your computer.

Step 2: Click the XQ Secure Outlook button from the Outlook menu bar and select Decrypt File from the drop-down menu. This opens the XQ Secure Outlook add-in.

Step 3: Click the Decrypt File icon in the top-right corner of the XQ Message window.

Step 4: Drag and drop or browse for your downloaded encrypted file to decrypt the file. This automatically downloads the decrypted file to your computer.

• Attach any file to your email, then use Secure Send to encrypt the file with the rest of your email message.
• Use the Encrypt Files option to only encrypt your attachment, leaving the rest of the email unencrypted.

This article provides steps for using both methods:

Using the Secure Send method

Step 1: Compose your email and attach the file(s) you wish to encrypt.

Step 2: Click the XQ Secure Outlook icon in the Outlook menu bar.

Step 3: Click Secure Send to send your encrypted email along with your attachments.

Using the Encrypt Files method

Step 1: Compose your email without attaching a file.

Step 2: Click the XQ Secure Outlook icon in the Outlook menu bar.

Step 3: Click Encrypt File to open the XQ add-in.

Step 4: Drag and drop or click browse to upload your file in the encryption window. Once the upload is complete, it will automatically be attached to your email as a .xqf file.

Step 5: Send your email. Your recipient is required to decrypt the attachment but can view the rest of the email contents.

Step 1: Open Outlook and click the New Message button to compose an email.

Step 2: Optional - Attach a file to your message. The XQ Add-In will automatically encrypt email attachments before sending your message.

Step 3: Click the XQ Secure Outlook icon in the menu bar.

Step 4: Click Secure Send to send the encrypted email.

Your recipient(s) will receive an email with an Unlock Message button. Your recipient(s) can use the steps in the following article to read the encrypted message: How to Read an XQ Encrypted Email with the Outlook Add-In.

Install with a manifest link

Step 1: Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin. Open the sidebar navigation menu, click Settings and select Integrated apps.

Step 2: From the Integrated apps page, click Add-ins.

Step 3: From the Add-ins page, click Deploy Add-In.

Step 4: Click Upload custom apps.

Step 5: Select I have a URL for the manifest file. Copy the following URL: https://outlook.xqmsg.com/v7/manifest-admin.xml and paste the URL in the text box.

Click Upload.

Step 6: On the configuration page choose an option under Assign Users and select a Deployment Method.

Click Deploy to start the installation.

Install through the Add-in library

Step 1: Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin. Open the sidebar navigation menu, click Settings and select Integrated apps.

Step 2: From the Integrated apps page, click Add-ins.

Step 3: From the Add-ins page, click Deploy Add-In.

Step 4: Click Choose from the Store.

Step 5: Use the search bar to search for XQ and click Add.

Click Continue to accept the Privacy Policy.

Step 6: On the configuration page choose an option under Assign Users and select a Deployment Method.

Click Deploy to start the installation.

Step 1: Log into your Outlook account and create a new message.

Step 2: Click the Get Add-ins icon in the menu bar. Depending on your settings, the menu bar may be above or below the composition window.

Step 3: Install the add-in using one of the following methods:

Recommended - Install using a manifest link:

1. Click My add-ins in the Add-ins browser window.
2. Click Add a custom add-in under Custom Addins and select Add from URL.
3. Enter the following link: https://outlook.xqmsg.com/v7/manifest-admin.xml and click Install to complete the installation process.

Search for XQ in the add-in library

1. Type XQ in the add-ins search bar.
2. Click Add under XQ's add-in listing. Agree to the terms and services to complete the installation process.

Step 4: After installing the XQ add-in, verify the XQ Secure Outlook option is available in the messaging menu bar. Click XQ Secure Outlook to launch the add-in settings. For first-time users, click Encryption Settings.

Step 5: The XQ Secure Outlook add-in will open to the right of your Outlook window. Click through the XQ tutorial until you reach the Encryption Settings window. Click Login at the bottom of the window to connect the add-in to your XQ account.

Step 7: A new Login window will appear. If you have multiple workspaces or teams in your XQ account, click on the displayed team name to open the dropdown list.

Otherwise, click the Send Confirmation Email button and close the window. You will receive a confirmation email with steps to finalize the Secure Outlook installation.

You are now ready to send encrypted messages and files using Outlook.
